Try reading what I've said.and that was that innovations generally appear on the Mac platform first, that's one of the reasons Mac's are more expensive.
Your talking about XP and preaching to me that it has everything a Mac has wow the thing is we've had these things for years,and we've moved on to iDVD and iPOD's(mp3 player/external hdhttp://www.apple.com/ipod/)etc
I'll also say that plugging in peripheral devices is no problem at all on a Mac(the longest its ever taken for me was about2 minutes including re-start.Devices I have plugged in are sony pc5, Nikon D1, Epson photo 1270, Lacie 45gig external hard drive,Umax scanner,internal Zip drive, iomega cd writer,Aiwa mini disk player Wacom Tablet,installing extra RAM takes less than a minute and no screw driver required.
go on take a look at the future http://www.apple.com/

let's just say that macs are the better technology and leave it at that.
then, look at recent technology history where different platforms and devices have fought for market dominance.
still playing your betamax tapes?
or perhaps you're really happy with your RIMMS?
MP3? whatever happened to AAC ... ?
ah, philip's laserdiscs, lovely!
if the mac really is better then it is doomed to ultimately fail -- but credit to apple, they do have a knack for staying in the market so they must be doing something right.
if the current crop of computers/OS were cars (oh christ, here we go) I think my list would be similar to
mac = audi
pc = subaru
linux = kit car
ps2 = cosworth
ipaq = bmw bubble car
as400 = bentley (sprayed matt black with heavily tinted windows with a bright red air-scoop)
and, isn't it *interesting* that LINUX is the only OS that will work on THEM ALL !!!
but how many people do you know who drive a kit car ...

since machead appears to be in his corner alone, here's an article to make me eat a slice of humble:
http://www.osopinion.com/perl/story/15463.html
IEEE 802.11e 'GigaWire' being developed by ... apple!!
perhaps we should watch this one and see how long it takes before it is taken up on the PC ;-)

are you suprised I'm on my own here seeming as Apple constitutes 5-7% of the PC market.
Apple are very generous and will probably liscence it to Bill Gates,there's no point having great technology for a minority,this will help 3rd party vendors take up this technology.
Its also nice to see a PC user being noble I was starting to think they're worse than an obsessive Mac user,(can't think who that Mac user is can you?)
Food for thought when the new Mac's ship with Gigwire how long will it take for 3rd party devices to appear for us to use it?Possibly the same amount of time for this technology to hit the PC platform maybe.
Don't you just love irony!

Hi,
I use a PC. I use it for everything. In fact I teach people how to use PC's and build world wide networks. That puts me in the position that I probably know more about them and the OS's that they run on a lot more than a lot of members of this board.
12 months ago I had a job at a large multimedia company in Australia working with Macs and PCs. This was my first exposure to the Mac. Until then I thought they were uninformedly crap and all thier users were nutters. I fell in love with the blue and white G3 and then the G4 and OS9 and now OSX. Admittadely they are not too shit hot for world wide networking solutions, in fact complete bollox.
But, if I wanted a client machine that I use on my own without the networking gubbins and I need to burn audio, make videos, check my mail, browse the net, it would all be done on a mac, because they just do everything better. The workflow of a Mac is like silk.
Why am I still using a PC, well it's my job. But I'm changing jobs, I've started editing. What am I going to do it on? a Powerbook Ti with FCP3.
Oh yeh and seeing as this is a film makers forum. The mac on it's own is better than a PC just on the slight fact that you can't get Final Cut Pro for it. C'est Fin!
Tim
PS - Forgot to mention - Windows XP has made my life a lot better since it's arrival. At least I don't get a headache from just looking at my beige monitor now, plus in general XP has improved Windows 10 fold. Still.... I'd rather have that G4

Thanks
I wouldn't call myself a Mac guru either but thats whats nice about Mac's you don't need a degree (nor a screw-driver) to work with them.
And to be fair most of the arguements against Apple have been pretty mundane.'One button mouse' and all the rest
I only get involved in these arguements cause they do amuse me,

You're not alone Machead - I'm a Mac user too. Sorry for not being able to help the Apple case in this argument. You've don a pretty good job yourself. I'm not much of a techie so all I can say is that from my experience Macs are much nicer to use than clunky PCs.
I've finally got a new G4 at work to replace my well old G3 - we've got a titanium widescreen G4 laptop too - tres cool!
I'd like to know what peeps think of FCP3 too - I just got FCP2 (doh!)
